De Britse heavy metalband Raven, afkomstig uit Newcastle Upon Tyne en opgericht in 1974, staat bekend als ware originelen binnen de muziekscene. De broers Gallagher, samen met drummer Rob Hunter sinds 1980, hebben drie van de meest invloedrijke metalalbums van de New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) uitgebracht.
