De broers Gama, opgegroeid in Mexico-Stad, keerden na een periode van punk en psychobilly terug naar hun muzikale wortels: de marimba. Dit resulteerde in Son Rompe Pera, een band die traditionele marimba combineert met een punk-ethos. Hun zelfbenoemde genre, cumbia punk, staat garant voor een rebelse en energieke fusie die bekend staat om marimba moshpits.
