De vijfkoppige Liverpoolse band Girl Group, bestaande uit Katya, Maria, Thea, Mia en Lil, ontstond uit de wens om muziek te maken op eigen voorwaarden en mannelijke structuren in de muziekindustrie uit te dagen. De band schrijft en produceert zelf, en combineert scherpe popsongwriting met postpunk-invloeden, euforische pop en feministische verhalen. Hun debuut-EP behandelt thema's als vriendschap, vrouw-zijn en solidariteit, met een balans tussen maatschappelijke observaties, humor, kwetsbaarhei
